Background
Longdon Stud was established in 1964 by Reg and Chris Hollinshead on 27 acres situated adjacent to their successful training yard.
The stud supplied a stream of winning homebred yearlings, reared on traditional pasture on the edge of Cannock Chase. 26 square miles of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
In 1991 Tim (Reg’s eldest son) and his wife Lynda returned to Longdon to manage the stud. Tim having worked in farm and stud management. Lynda having held senior nursing and management posts in both the public and private sector.
Lynda's nursing skills were soon put to good use when the Pool House Equine Clinic, Crown Hill Farm (www.poolhousevets.co.uk) was established at the stud site.
This enterprise evolved and grew for 10 years until moving to a dedicated site at Crown Inn Farm.
The stud's work also grew and soon we were foaling upwards of 50 mares a year.
The next progression was to stand MAKBUL in 1997, our first stallion. Lord Kintyre promptly won The Weatherby Super Sprint.
Now we are very proud to stand his best son in STRIKING AMBITION, having bred his best daughter GOLDEVA. Find out more about 'Striking' here.
